Grand Rounds

Paramedics Plus is excited to begin conducting Grand Rounds starting in February.  We realize they are an important tool in medical education and patient care.  Grand Rounds will consist of EMTs and Paramedics presenting interesting calls to an audience of healthcare professionals to highlight their experiences with various patients and their treatments.  In addition, there will be professional experts giving an enlightening presentation on various aspects of the EMS system that field personnel may not aware of but complements the excellent care given by EMTs and Paramedics. 

We need you to help us out!!!  Clinical Services is looking for individuals to submit and/or present any interesting cases they have encountered while working here at Paramedics Plus.  While we are always open to all types of topics but our first grand round is going to highlight the topic of STEMI’s.  Please contact Marlene, Jessica, or Mike with your submissions and/or willingness to present.

Save either Wednesday, February 15 from 1600 – 1800 or Wednesday, February 22 from 0800-1000 to attend the inaugural Grand Rounds.  We look forward to having you a part of this valuable learning experience.

Certification Classes

Clinical Services has put together its initial offering of Continuing Classes for 2012.  There are multiple places where you can find our Continuing Education calendar for 2012.  They are:

• Look on the bulletin board by Classroom #2, you will see a schedule posted in the glass case.
• You can find a copy of the schedule in a couple of places on Ninth Brain.
• You can go to the “Resource Center”, select “Open File Cabinet.”  From there, look for the document “2012 Continuing Education Classes” and click on the PDF symbol to open the file.
• Select  “View Announcement and Events” under  “Company”.  Click on the “Event” tab. Select the date range and click the “Filter” button if you entered a custom date range.  You will see the classes offered for the time period you selected.  You can also display all categories at once or you select individual categories to display.

Educational Offerings

Mark your calendar for some interesting and fun CE topics!

• April 3, 4PM-6PM: A representative from Stanford will be coming for an in-service on Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD). We have several patients in our jurisdiction with this life-saving device. Come learn about what is it, and what you can do to help trouble shoot problems during a 911 call.
• April 4, 4PM-6PM: The Alameda County Coroner is coming! Find out about their job, what they do, and what they see.
